Riverside County Board of Supervisors has cut funding for Cooperative Extension and the 4-H Program

I’ve borrowed this information from County 4-H Advisor’s Email:
We need you to write letters to the County Board of Supervisors telling them the impact 4-H has had on you!
Below are some talking points abut 4-H that you can use. Please add your own experiences in 4-H and what 4-H has done for you to your letter.  It would be very effective if younger youth members could send handwritten cards and letters! Be sure to introduce yourself and tell how old you are and what club you belong to. I have also included a list of the County Board of Supervisors and their contact information. Please send your letters to your Supervisor and to the budget subcommittee chairs, Kevin Jeffries and Karen Spiegel. The contact information for all supervisors is at the bottom of this e-mail.

We also need people who can attend the Budget Sub-Committee meeting on June 5, 2019 and the Budget Hearing on June 10, 2019 at 6pm at the County Administrative Building, 4080 Lemon Street, Riverside 92501. There will be a public comment portion of the meeting. If you would be willing to address the County Supervisors at either of these meetings, please email Stephanie atslbarrett@ucanr.edu.  Riverside County 4-H offers programs for almost 5,000 youth in community clubs and  afterschool programs that promote hands-on, experiential learning. The purpose of 4-H is to provide positive youth development opportunities that enable youth to reach their full potential as competent, confident, leaders of character who contribute and are connected to their communities.
FACTS:
The 4-H program is led by nearly 200 adult and youth volunteers who  give generously of their time, money, and facilities. 4-H volunteers donate 500,000 hours of time every year. 4-H adult volunteers are committed to encouraging leadership and responsibility and teaching life skills and civic engagement.
4-H youth are 1.9 times more likely to get better grades in school, 2 times more likely to engage in healthy behaviors, and 3.4 times more likely to actively contribute to their communities.
4-H is a benefit to all of Riverside County!
